If you haven’t been to Blumenthal Performing Arts, I highly recommend checking out the live theatre that they offer. Shows range from large productions like “Phantom of the Opera”, to more intimate plays (one of my favorite producers being Queen City Theatre Company.)  Last night I saw Charlotte Shakespeare’s production “Opus.”

Opus, written by playwright and former violinist Michael Hollinger, reveals the politics and passions that threaten a classical string quartet. In front of an audience they’re pitch perfect, but behind the scenes the Lazara string quartet is coming unstrung – all on the eve of their first televised performance at the White House.

The shows runs at Duke Energy Theatre until Oct. 27th.
